A successor of the legendary MELKUS RS1000 was already the dream of Heinz Melkus. Peter and Sepp Melkus, son and grandchild of the famous technical designer and running driver, convert this dream now into the reality.

Current production, the reproduction of the MELKUS RS1000 is a limited edition. The Melkus RS 1000 was powered by a mid-mounted Wartburg 3-cylinder 2-stroke engine with displacement ranging from 1 to 1.2L and only 101 cars were ever made. The new model, Melkus RS2000 will be powered by a 2L four-cylinder with power ranging from 130 to 200hp.

The production of the Melkus RS2000 will begin in January 2007, and will go on sale in spring 2008. Only 25 cars a year will be produced at a price of 75000 euro ($95000).
