The new A-Class looks to be a headliner

The new Mercedes A-Class is scheduled to make its world debut in Amsterdam on February 2. That’s set in stone. Ahead of the unveiling, Mercedes has been on a teaser binge, first releasing a teaser photo back in November showing the entry-level sedan’s interior. Now we get a look at the A-Class’ exterior or at least parts of the front section that we can make out.

The new teaser video doesn’t reveal much, but we do see blinking headlights that are similar to the ones found on the 2019 CLS four-door coupe. We can’t make out the look of the front grille, but don’t be surprised if it’s also the same as one found on the CLS and some of the newer Merc models that made their debuts in recent years. A separate teaser also reveals what we’ve known for quite some time: the new A-Class will have a hatchback version to go along with the sedan. It will also ride on the same second-generation MFA platform as the GLA and CLA. Unfortunately for hatch-loving consumers, the sedan version is the only model that’s going to the U.S.

We still don’t know the full details of the new A-Class, but based on the teaser’s that we’ve seen, the German automaker seems to have taken a proactive approach in jazzing up the A-Class beyond its status as an entry-level model. The interior, in particular, looks less like a low-cost model and more like a premium model. The ambient lighting, floating widescreen, and touchpad control system on the center console are all signs of a well-provisioned interior. The new A-Class will also debut the automaker’s new User Experience multimedia system, which incorporates voice control, augmented reality, and artificial intelligence. When was the last time you saw an entry-level model this loaded in luxury and new-age tech?

This is the reality of the all-new Mercedes A-Class.
