Only Mercedes-AMG->ke8 could make a teaser video->ke278 that shows absolutely no car, and make it as exciting as the one seen here. With only the promise that “something fast is coming,” Mercedes’->ke187 in-house performance division hints at an upcoming car, and it does so with the best 11 seconds of audio you’re going to hear all week. Exactly what that car is, though, is the $64,000 question… or more like a $200,000+ question, since there’s a good chance that it is a higher-performance version of the 2016 Mercedes-AMG GT (with or without the Black Series name).

The only version of the coupe->ke141 currently available is the $129,000 AMG GT S with 503 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque, but a more-affordable and lower-output Mercedes-AMG GT->ke4853 (sans S) is due out next year, with the same 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8, but rated at 456 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. These two models will make the AMG GT a perfect rival for sub-Turbo->ke571 versions of the 911,->ke282 so the addition of a third model will likely put it closer to the 2016 Porsche 911 Turbo or 911 Turbo S in terms of both power and price.

Looking at other possibilities for cars being teased in the video, there’s also an outside chance that it could be the new 2016 Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe. That probably isn’t very likely, however, since the next-gen 2016 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe hasn’t even been unveiled yet. What we do know for sure is that this car – whatever it is – will be a powerful beast with an amazing exhaust note. The video shows the mystery car being driven hard around Germany’s Hockenheimring.->ke972 I won’t judge you if you waste a few extra minutes watching the video twice.
