It’s not even been six months since Mercedes announced the EQS sedan, but it is already gearing up for its next EV, the EQE, that’s all set to debut at the upcoming IAA in Munich. The automaker teased the EQE on its Instagram page and it could be the EV that brings in volume for the company. Not a lot could be deciphered in this teaser, but we are excited to see what’s in the store for Mercedes.
The EQE Will Be The Baby EQS
The teaser shows the silhouette of the car and it looks to be a size smaller than the EQS. In all likelihood, it will be the same size as the fuel-powered E-Class. But, that’s where the similarity will end. If the EQS is anything to go by, the EQE will not share the design or styling cues with the E-Class. In fact, it could be a baby EQS at best.
The car will come with Mercedes Digital Light, a lighting system that makes use of micromirror pixels to create pin-sharp images on the road. You can also see a forward-facing camera equipped inside the logo.
There will be an EQE Edition One model, which will most likely be a limited-edition launch model with all the bells and whistles that the company has to offer on it.
The cabin will come with the Mercedes ‘Hyperscreen’ that landscapes the length of the dash. The white leather-wrapped steering wheel and upholstery give luxurious vibes. You can even spot blue light reflecting on the HVAC vents, which suggests ambient lighting will be offered, too.
Since it looks like a smaller version of the EQS, we expect the specs and features to also be similar to the EQS, although slightly toned down. To give you a perspective, here’s what the EQS is all about:

-* Can add 300 miles of range in 15 minutes when plugged into a DC fast-charger
-* ‘Sensual Purity’ design philosophy, which could be the basis for the EQE, too
-* 0.20 coefficient of drag rating. EQE could be around .23
-* Features a massive 56-inch ‘Hyperscreen’ inside the cabin
-* It is a mix of a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 17.7-inch touchscreen, and 12.3-inch touchscreen for the passenger
-* Base trim features a 12.8-inch touchscreen system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument, which could be the one on the EQE as well
-* Price not announced, but could start over $110,000 and go up to $150,000 with all the bells and whistles
Conclusion
The car will debut at the upcoming International Mobility Show in Munich starting September 7. Called the Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung in German, or the IAA Mobility, the show will go on till 12th August and will be one to look out for considering the myriad of launches and debuts expected.
