We all know that the Mercedes SLS AMG is a truly delicious sports car, but what some of us may not know is that there is an even more delectable version in the works. This sinfully delicious version will go into limited production in 2013 and will cost at least 50% more than a standard model.

What’s so yummy about this model? The new Black Series from Mercedes will feature the 6.2-liter V8 engine, but revised to deliver up to 600 hp and 500lb ft of torque done with a few special ingredients such as a larger air manifold, higher compression ratio, reprofiled camshafts, and other unspecified tweaks. Weight’s not going to be an issue with this dessert. The total weight of the Mercedes SLS AMG will be reduced by 50 kilos in the Black Series, so we can expect a sprint from 0 to 60 mph made in 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 208 mph. Satisfied yet?

"We’re not at the limit with what’s out there at the moment. There’s still a good deal more to come from the engine," says AMG engine boss Friedrich Eichler. "We’re saving the best until last."

We just hope that can be translated into an even hotter model than the Black Series that is being introduced now. Here’s to hoping!

The only thing that makes this car unique and desirable is the doors. Other than that why would you not just buy a CL63 or 65 or an SL63 or 65 or even go for an SL65 Black

First of all I am well aware that the original 300SL had a convertible that did not have gullwing doors. However that was back then and this is now. To try to compare the current line up of cars to the ones back then is inane. There are already perfectly good AMG convertibles so this car is pointless without the doors.

there are no changes on the performance of the car, they only focused on the Exterior looks of the car, but it looks better than the Matte blue done on the SLS AMG on Dubai.

the SLS and Viper’s frame is just the same, they only difference is the Performance.

The cheapness of the interior and its ancient gearbox are just constant reminders of how great this car could have been, had Mercedes been prepared to go that extra mile.

Commenting like a poor person same here, but you need to recognize if you can afford a $150+k car, you could care less about price of gas

I bet it will have a HUGE carbon fiber spoiler, carbon fiber trims everywhere, and an amazing engine, and probably the 7-speed auto

So, if i have a first model of SLS can it’s engine upgraded to black edition?

With that 6.2-liter V8 engine including new cams and higher compression pistons, I think it would be one of the most awaited car to launch in year 2013.

Yeah, That was a worth to wait. Good thing that it came out in black color which looks more elegant and aggressive.
