A 16% increase in sales during this type of economical situation can be considered a huge success and it seems that Mercedes really wants to take advantage of that increase. How will they take advantage of such an increase? The company has promised 16 new or upgraded models scheduled to be unveiled between this year and next year.

The list of new models will include: the Smart Fortwo Electric Drive, the B-Class F-Cell, and the A-Class, all promising a zero-emission motoring.

Next to them, Mercedes will also offer a new generation of V6 and V8 gasoline engines, dubbed BlueDIRECT. These new engines will offer direct injection and turbocharging technology and will also offer an improvement of 24% in fuel consumption. Europe will be seeing these BlueDIRECT models in the Fall, but US dates have not been released yet.

So it seems that Mercedes really wants to apply the new slogan "The best or nothing."

Before anything else, I think it would be better if they have used more modern engine for this car. Producing a fuel economy car would be a great bonus. However, I want them to retain the luxurious styling of the car.

The only production that they are currently working on was the A class. I don’t know if they will continue the Smart Electric car and B class F-cell. I would love to see a Mercedes car that offers a better fuel economy!

haha. Yeah, I have noticed that they stick on using the v6 or v8 technology. I want to see them offering like v10 or v12, I think that would be awesome! BTW, the slogan The best or nothing." really fits on Mercedes car.

Wow! Does it mean that Mercedes is offering a smaller version car? isn’t this car is kind of dangerous for the road odd US? So does it mean that the A class would be available in the US market? BTW, I think its the right time that Mercedes would offer a newer technology for their engine!

It seems as if Mercedes will be returning to the #1 spot they enjoyed prior to becoming involved with Chrysler quicker than I thought. I also commend their return to building reliable cars; the GLK-class—their first new vehicle designed independently from Chrysler—tied the Lexus LS 460 and Toyota Prius for Consumer Reports’ highest ranked car in reliability last year. Let’s hope this improvement soon extends to the rest of their range.
