It is known that soon a new “baby” of Mercedes-Benz will hit the markets but even though it’s not out yet, we were still able to find out some interesting details on the new- coming SL65 AMG Back Series. The most important detail is that the engineers managed to bring out 66 extra horsepower from the car’s twin- turbo 6.0 V12 achieving a total of 670 horsepower, 20 more than the SLR McLaren 772.

The lighter curb weight is due to the extensive use of carbon fiber in the car’s front fenders and the hood and new fixed roof. This brought a loss of 570 pounds bringing its curb weight down to 4080 pounds. For the performance package, Mercedes plans to equip the new SL with a wider track, larger brakes, a deployable rear spoiler, a lower hood and new adjustable suspension.

For the inside of the Black Series, Mercedes will feature carbon fiber shell racing seats, a flat bottom steering wheel and lots of Alcantara leather. In order to save some weight they also removed the SL’s back seat. The expected time for the debut of the SL65 AMG Black Series is next year, in white, black, red or silver and with a price starting from $200.000.
