While the crickets in our head continue to chirp as we “patiently” wait for the release of Gran Turismo 5, Sony has nonetheless made one thing official as it relates to the game. Unfortunately for all of us, it’s still not the official release date. After reports started circulating a few months back that the Mercedes SLS AMG Gullwing would be the car-of-choice to grace the cover of GT5, Sony officially confirmed it after releasing the cover of their hotly-anticipated 5th generation racing game.

While we applaud Sony for picking a worthy car to headline GT5, we still have no clue as to when the game will officially hit stores, which leads to more hours of staring at screen shots, watching demo videos, and playing GT5: Prologue on our PS3s. At the very least, we now know what the game looks like from the outside, which, in hindsight, doesn’t really do much in appeasing our starving appetite to play the game.
