Still under camo

It’s been only hours since our paparazzi spotted the mid-engined Corvette on public roads and GM’s upcoming supercar took another trip outside the garage. This time around, the mid-ship ’Vette got its wheels stretched on the famous Nurburgring track.

Unfortunately, the supercar is still wrapped in camo from front to rear, so there’s nothing much to see. We’re already familiar with the aggressive front bumper with big vents as well as the quad, round headlamps that raise on top of the front fenders.

We can also spot small LED lights toward the center and turn signals placed higher on the fenders.

However, this layout may be of the prototype variety and could change on the production model.

Onto the sides, the camo isn’t thick enough to hide the pronounced character lines above the side skirts and under the side window. The rear section is identical to the cars we spotted recently on the road. It has a pair of lights on each side, somewhat similar to the C7 Corvette, and sharp vents underneath. While some prototypes have big wings, this one sports a smaller spoiler on the deck lid. The engine hood is also camouflaged so we can’t see the engine. The rear diffuser looks surprisingly mild for a vehicle of this caliber.

The mid-engined C8 will draw its juice from a twin-turbo V-8 engine that will generate around 700 horsepower. A hybrid setup with all-wheel-drive is likely, but GM has yet to confirm this scenario.

The supercar will be able to sprint to 60 mph in less than three seconds and charge up to a top speed of 220 mph.

Stay tuned for updates on the mid-engine Corvette - new details should become available later this year.
