Mitsubishi launched today the Lancer Evolution X Police Edition, because after all if the kids you’re chasing have them, why can’t you. All the company revealed are the images of the car and no specifications, but the photos show the car in the London Metro Police’s colors (London has been rumored to be testing 2.0-liter diesel Lancers.) So maybe we should say "watch out baddies."

The police edition is truly just an Evo X with a light bar. It’s powered by the same turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder 16-valve DOHC MIVEC (likely 300 hp) unit used used in the standard Lancer Evolution X. The car is also loaded with the Evo X’s S-AWC (Super All Wheel Control) vehicle dynamics control system and the newly developed, power-efficient Twin Clutch SST (Sport Shift Transmission).

I hope that it gets a good driver though. There is no sense of having a powerful car if the driver cannot handle it’s capabilities and it’s power. I wonder if they will be using this car in high speed chases? It would really be interesting to see it crash into a criminal’s car or something. That would give the people who are behind in buying this as a police car a good idea that the tax payers money should not be wasted in a useless thing like this. Well it is not useless but it is a bad purchase. They should have bought 2 cars with the price tag of this thing.

Nice car. I wouldn’t want to be chased by this.
