Some inside sources gave Car Magazine a few more details about Audi's future models: the next Audi RS4 will be supercharged, the R8’s V10 will be naturally aspirated and there won't be any smaller model than the A1. Not soon, anyway.
The A1 will be revealed in 2010 and will be available as a convertible and SUV, alongside the regular three- and five-door hatches. It will share the same platform with the future Polo.
The A3 family will get a new member: the Q3 based on the Cross Coupe Quattro concept.
As about the future RS4, it will get the same engine as the S4, meaning a 3.0-litre supercharged V6. The choice has been made because the company "wanted high torque figure at low rpm." But don't worry, the RS4 will be very sporty.
As about the future V10 version of the R8, it will be naturally aspirated, using the same engine from the S6 and S8, and not RS6. Also there is no chance for a V12 TDI R8. If Audi will ever build a diesel R8 it will choose the V8 TDI.
As about a smaller R model, Audi said this is a possibility.
