Morgan Freeman injured in car crash
Morgan Freeman was seriously injured in a car accident late last night. The accident occurred in rural northwestern Mississippi near Freeman’s home. Freeman was driving a 1997 Nissan Maxma owned by the passenger, Demaris Meyer, and the car flipped several times as it left the rural highway. "There’s no indication that either alcohol or drugs were involved," said Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Ben Williams.
Freedman was taken 90 miles away to Memphis Regional Medical Center, where he was listed in serious condition. A friend of the actor noted that he sustained no "life threatening injuries.
"They had to use the jaws of life to extract him from the vehicle," Clay McFerrin, editor of Sun Sentinel in Charleston said. "He was lucid, conscious. He was talking, joking with some of the rescue workers at one point."
