Morgan Motor Company is a British motoring icon that needs no introduction. The company is now over 110 years old and still produces cars that reek of class and heritage. The volume isn’t a lot, but Morgan still builds around 800 examples every year. Back in 1962, the company won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the 2.0-liter class in a Morgan Plus 4 SuperSports. To commemorate the legendary win’s 60th anniversary, the carmaker has come up with the limited edition Morgan Plus Four LM62. It will be limited to just 62 examples and is available to order.

What’s Special About The Morgan Plus Four LM62?

Before we jump in, here’s a little background. The Morgan Plus Four participated in the 2.0-liter class at the 1962 24 Hours of Le Mans and faced 17 other entries, some of them being more powerful than the Morgan car. But, the Morgan car and drivers, Christopher Lawrence and Richard Shepherd-Baron, weathered all the storms and covered 2,255 miles at an average speed of 93 mph to win the race.

Coming to the Morgan Plus Four LM62, it will be offered in two exclusive exterior shades – Morgan Jet Green or Morgan Tertre Rogue. Both these colors pay tribute to the Le Mans-winning car and the circuit upon which it scored the victory. It is also equipped with a Heritage White hardtop, similar to the one that was present on the race car. This is the first time the white hardtop is offered on the Plus Four.

Apart from this, the LM62 also comes with a graphics package inspired by the victorious car. You have the ‘29’ roundels and LM62 rear badge. There’s a Le Mans-style fuel filler cap and a domed rear panel as well. The car rides on silver-painted wire wheels, true to the model it celebrates. Morgan has also installed an active sports exhaust with black tailpipes. Other stuff you can find on the outside include:

- Driving spotlights

- Polished stone-guard

- Black mohair side screens

- Body-colored A-pillars

- Black splitter and cowl mesh

- A side screen bag embroidered with the LM62 logo

You get special stuff on the inside as well. Every LM62 special edition will get a numbered plaque. The LM62 laser-engraved black saddle-leather door pulls are another sweet touch here. The heated seats are upholstered in black leather with horizontal pleating and perforated seat centers. The headrests are embroidered with the specially designed LM62 graphic. Apart from these things, Morgan Motor Company has also equipped the car with bespoke satin lacquer rubber mats with black vinyl edges, a painted steering-wheel center, and a Tawny wood center-tunnel top and dash.

In case you’d like to make your Morgan Plus Four LM62 even more special, you can opt for a soft-top hood, an LM62-specific photographic build record, and an LM62 accessory pack. The accessory pack includes:

- Two-eared wheel spinners

- Moto-Lita steering wheel

- Headlight tape

- Chrome interior rear-view mirror

What Powers The Plus Four?

There’s no word on any mechanical changes, so we’re guessing the special-edition Plus Four comes with the same specs as the standard car.

When you opt for the six-speed manual, the engine puts out 255 horses at 5,500 rpm and 258 pound-feet of torque between 1,000- and 5,000 rpm. It takes 5.2 seconds to sprint to 62 mph from naught and has a top speed of 149 mph.

The engine mated to the eight-speed automatic gearbox churns out 255 horses at 4,400 rpm and 295 pound-feet of torque between 1,000- and 4,300 rpm. This option is quicker as it takes 4.8 seconds to 62 mph from rest and has a top speed of 149 mph. Surprisingly, it is almost nine pounds (four kilos) lighter than the manual option – 2,224 pounds (1,009 kilos) vs 2,233 pounds (1,013 kilos).

Final Thoughts

The Morgan Plus Four LM62 is available in both, left- or right-hand-drive configurations and is available to order. As mentioned earlier, it will be limited to just 62 examples. In the U.K., it’s priced from £78,995, which is approximately $107,350 as per the exchange rates at the time of penning this article.
