Germany versus America seems to be the automotive war of this century. Cadillac->ke18 is busy taking on Mercedes-Benz and BMW with their CTS and CTS-V series, and Chevrolet->ke199 is aiming the Corvette->ke1280 right at Porsche->ke1.

As proof to our statement, the ultimate Corvette, the ZR1, was taken to a track by Motor Trend and pitted against the Porsche 911 Turbo, probably the best all around machine from the automaker. What a battle this should turn out to be.

The Corvette features a massive 638 horsepower from its supercharged V8 engine. The American muscle car places its motor in the front and has it powering the rear wheels. Add the upgraded, stronger six-speed manual transmission and a twin-disc clutch, plus a curb weight of 3,333 pounds, and the Corvette can make the 0-60mph launch in 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 205mph.

The 911 Turbo has 500 horsepower from its flat-six that is placed in the rear of the car. The car is all-wheel drive, which we know to be a tad slower off the line. That being said, the Porsche makes 0 to 60 MPH in the same 3.4 seconds that the Corvette does, but it only reaches a top speed of 194 MPH.

We know which machine we would rather have, but which would come out on top in the quarter mile drag race? Watch the video to find out!
