Despite remaining one of the most sought-after machines on the planet, there will come a time when Lamborghini will eventually have a curtain call for the Murcielago. Never fret, Lambo fans, because the boys from Sant’Agata are already hard at work - as evidenced by the multitude of spy photos and videos proliferating the Internet these days - with a successor to their benevolent supercar.

And just to give us a sample of what’s in store for us in the coming years, Lambo has released a teaser image of the next Lamborghini supercar - Jota, is that you? - that should whet the appetites of those clamoring for one for the longest time. By itself, the teaser image doesn’t really do much for our imaginations. Unless Lamborghini has something mind-blowing in store for us, we’re guessing that their next supercar will still come with the customary hood and the same unmistakable logo.

As for the rest of the car, Lamborghini’s keeping that under wraps, at least until the rumored Paris Motor Show debut later this year, although dealers and VIPs could have their own private session with the new supercar sometime in July.

Until then, let your imaginations run wild, people.

I guess the decision was made to reduce weight on the massive supercar, and I think the Lamborghini want Some top priority. But am sure far more weight will be saved by switching to a carbon fiber moncoque chassis, in that case it will have some similarity to the McLaren MP4-12C or Lexus LFA.

Italian marque is expected to ditch the heavy steel structure concept for its supercar and add more carbon fiber to keep the weight as low as possible.
