Wipe all that cheese dust from your grimey little fingers, because the new Need for Speed is coming to mobile and you’re gonna want it. iPhone, iPad, and Android device owners are expected to get a crack at this arcadey street racer sometime this year, and judging from the new gameplay teaser, the visuals are simply spectacular — certainly beyond the norm for the platform.
Responsible for all that gorgeous, nitrous-fueled hooliganism is EA subsidiary Firemonkeys Studios, also known for the mobile-based Real Racing 3. This is the second trailer we’ve seen for the game, with the first released on November 20th, 2014, featuring the inimitable Ken Block hanging out in his Hoonicorn gymkhana Mustang.
According to a recent Twitter post, Need for Speed: No Limits will be free to download, with the requisite optional in-game purchases sprinkled throughout. Expect the usual NFS experience: collect cars from a wide range of manufacturers, customize, slingshot through traffic, do battle with the police and rival racers, and spit copious blue flames from the exhaust. You are a master of physics, and glory is only awarded to those who keep the loud pedal buried. Anyone looking to perfect their apex and trail braking are advised to look elsewhere — this is about maximizing air time, not grip.
