New Chevrolet Camaro to feature a 2.0 liter engine

According to GM’s Vice Chairman Bob Lutz, it appears that the new Chevrolet Camaro has great chances to get also the engine from the tuned versions of the Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky. The 2.0 liter turbo engine will feature the European version of the car and will be able to deliver 260 hp. This engine will help the new muscle car to be eco-friendly reducing CO2 emissions to just 17mpg in town and 25mpg on the highway.

Comparing it to the Ford Mustang GT and Nissan 350Z, the new Camaro powered by the 2.0 liter engine will simply be humiliated due to their engine capable of delivering 300 hp. Of course these cars will not have a chance in front of the V8-powered model but now we put ourselves the question: Would someone buy a 2.0 liter Camaro to be humiliated by a Nissan 350Z? Tough question...

“Millions of people of all ages fell in love with the Camaro for all of the right reasons. Camaros were beautiful to look at and offered performance that could rival expensive European GTs. Yet they were practical enough to drive every day and priced within the reach of many new car buyers.” said Ed Welburn, GM Vice President, Global Design. If we listen to these words we can understand that the new Camaro will easily find its customers between its fans but the European success is still questioned.

And, film director, you were right about the American legend bit, you see, only the people in America like cars like these along witha a few Australians. In other countries, it is regarded as just another V8 for guys who like to talk big. Import cars are not only cheaper but better looking.

Don’t worry you losers, this car will get its doors blown off by the 350Z. To the person with the four banger comment, you can have this car pumping whatever LS version it will have, but at the end of the day, my WRX will smoke this car with virtually no effort. This cars only saving grace is it’s looks.

Its humiliating to drive American legend and have your doors blow off by an inferior import car. A true Muscle car has 375 hp at least. If you make this new Camaro a fuel flex V8 instead of a 4 banger and use Ethanol, you can keep it green and take advantage of the cheaper fuel and Higher octane 105 or more of E85. Back in the 1970’s grammas grocery runner had 260hp and that was the wimpier car.

the v-8 was producing 400hp min. how would a 4 banger even compete... its a muscle car. if you want a 4 banger buy a japanese car. leave american muscle with the v-8’s and up how they were intended.

What does it mean here? An added 17/25mpg to the car or total, because last I heard this car was getting 25+ mpg on the larger engines. :S

Thank God! GM has finally started to realise what you can get from four cylinders. Of course, a 2L engine might put off muscle car fans but their are quite a few people who care about the enviroment and will love this car.

A surprising but intelligent move on the part of GM.Who would have thought of it?

260hp on the stock (tuned but still stock) 4 banger is not too bad for a starting point... with a large number of the cars used in street racing being 4 cylinder, i predict custom tuned 4’s to be able to run with the stock 6’s if not the V8’s
