Chevy has been quite busy since it debuted the 2020 C8 Corvette Stingray, and has introduced both the convertible and the C8.R in the short period that has passed. We’re still waiting on the ZR1, the first AWD Corvette, a couple of hybrid models (which could include the Zora ZR1, and the C8 Corvette Z06. We’re expecting the Z06 to be the next debut on the list, and now we’ve learned a little more about it, including the fact that it will feature a massive rear wing akin to that of the C8.R with one...eh… minor change.

2021 Chevy C8 Corvette Z06 – A Track Focused Beast with a Big Wing

The truth is that there’s still a lot we don’t know about the C8 Corvette Z06, but GM Authority has put out a new report that claims the new Z06 will be a track-focused car with a wing that’s bigger than that of the C7 Corvette ZR1.

The engine behind the seats is likely to be a road-going version of the C8.R’s naturally aspirated, 5.5-liter V-8, flat-plane crank, and all. Word around the campfire says that it’ll be good for around 600 horsepower, or around 110 ponies more than the base Stingray and some 50 ponies down form the C7 Z06. The latter figure doesn’t matter, though, as the C8 is more aerodynamic and lighter, so it should be, for intents and purposes, a toned-down version of the C8.R.

The next steps for Chevy will be to introduce the Zora ZR1, a model that has yet to be confirmed but highly expected, and the Corvette E-Ray, a model that will by largely hybridized or maybe even all-electric. The Zora ZR1 will be the most potent of the bunch, with the hybrid powertrain designed to pump out upward of 1,000 horsepower. That one will likely feature a beastly twin-turbo V-8 that will dish out something near 700 horsepower with the electric drive doing the rest of the work.

There’s still no word about when the Z06, ZR1, or E-Ray will make their debut, but our best guess puts the Z06 debut event somewhere in the latter part of 2020 with sales commencing sometime in early 2021.
