Ford stopped producing sedans for the U.S. ever since the final Fusion rolled off the production line on July 31, 2020. While sedans are not in Ford's future here in North America, this body style is still popular in China, where the new Mondeo will soon make its official debut.

These photos, which came from the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, showcase the new Ford Mondeo in full. Its design is unlike any sedan that Ford used to make, as it features a number of styling cues we have never seen before in its three-box vehicles.

For instance, the front grille is reminiscent of the Mustang Mach-E and even the Evos midsize crossover/hatchback thing that Ford unveiled in China earlier this year. The front end features a large octagonal grille that's flanked by a slim pair of LED daytime running lights, with the main headlights being a separate unit below it.

The side profile of the Mondeo features a fastback roofline, along with flushed door handles that are similar to its Lincoln Zephyr sibling that was also revealed at around the same time as this new Mondeo. At the back, the word Mondeo is placed throughout the trunk's width. We can also see a sleek set of full-width LED taillights

Shown in these photos is the ST Line variant, though another photo showcases the differences across the available trim levels. The ST Line model sets itself apart with its black contrasting roof, black mesh grille, sportier front and rear bumpers, and bigger two-tone alloy wheels.

Unfortunately, just like its Lincoln counterpart, no photos of the interior have been revealed yet. We do, however, expect the Ford Mondeo to feature a similar dashboard design from the Evos (as shown), which means it may feature a cluster of screens spanning the entire dashboard.

Chinese automotive website Autohome has revealed that the new Ford Mondeo will be powered by a 2.0-liter turbo gasoline engine that produces 238 horsepower. If this sounds familiar, it's because it will share the exact same powertrain as its Lincoln sibling.

These are the details we know so far. We expect the Ford Mondeo to be revealed in full at the upcoming Guangzhou Motor Show. Unfortunately, the Mondeo nameplate will cease to exist in Europe starting in March 2022, ending a 30-year era for Ford's midsize sedan in the Old Continent.
