It’s basically an F8 Tributo with the styling cues of the 812

Earlier this week we saw the McLaren 765LT being transformed into a front-engined car, basically a competitor for the Ferrari 812 Superfast. Now, someone did it the other way around and turned the Ferrari 812 Superfast into a mid-engined supercar. The transformation belongs to YouTube’s TheSketchMoney, known for his vlogs that include digital mods made to production cars, as well as discussing design features that are cool or not so inspired.

But unlike the McLaren 765LT mod, this rendering comes with a 15-minute video in which TheSketchMoney discusses the changes he needs to make to turn the 812 Berlinetta into a mid-engined car. The rendering is not just about cutting the front end shorter and adding a longer decklid. The cabin was also moved forward, the nose was lowered, and the rear fenders gained big vents that are specific to mid-engined cars. TheSketchMonkey also paid a great deal of attention to the C-pillars, which needed a full redesign in order to fit the new mid-engined layout.

The end result is pretty much an F8 Tributo with the design elements of the 812 Superfast. The front fascia feels a bit strange since the headlamps are just as long, while the hood is shorter, but overall it’s a design that would probably have some success. But I think that the front-engined McLaren 765LT looks way better than a mid-engined Ferrari 812 Superfast. How about you?
