Black, white, red, or orange; these are all suitable colors for a sports car. Stray from this assortment and the results could be hit or miss. Obviously British automotive journalist and GT-R fan, Davis Yu, has decided to take his chances and turn a perfectly good Gum metallic paint job into Barney.

That’s right, this guy has taken his Nissan GT-R to the folks at Creative FX so they could wrap it up in a purple foil.

Not that it hasn’t been done before. Nissan themselves have even ventured off to the plum palette by allowing their 2010 V Spec GT-R models to carry the color, but we’re not so sure that the GT-R deserves this kind of treatment.

"David Yu approached us to wrap his gun metal GT-R in the iconic midnight purple, which is only available in the spec V version of the latest GT-R. David is very happy with the result of the wrap and says, “most of the people who’ve seen it thought it was a respray!"

We’re glad Mr. Yu is happy with his car, but we would love to know what everyone else thinks about his wine-colored ride. Does the Nissan GT-R look good in purple, or should the foil be unwrapped and tossed away like yesterday’s Christmas paper? Hit us up with your thoughts in the comments section below.

Why don’t you like purple? I actually love it! Well, with its body color maybe others were bit confused on its look. However, let us consider other color combination as well.

It’s still going to grenade trannys. I would have been happier if they had issued the spec V with a proper gearbox. Take odds that the over-boost feature voids your warranty?

There’s quite a few differences between this and the Clubsport, the brakes, suspension, carbon exterior parts, rear seats, engine cover etc.
But yes the Nismo parts are utilized in the SpecV.

The car has two alignment specs: street and sports. The latter will give you better handling at the cost of a short tread life.

The GT-R tech also has to mark the tire against the valve stem so that you can tell if the tire’s been slipping on the rim (despite the knurls in the wheels), and get the wheel re-balanced if that does occur.

Yes, Im waiting for some proof of these other manufactuers. How do we know they didnt use cut slicks?

remember guys, all those so call lap time are done by pro driver who do this every day to test cars. It’s all about the driver! I bet you the guy can beat anyone of us doing a lap driving a Toyota Camry then us in a GTR.

well of course paint is one of the factor why you like the car. color represent yourself and dress of the car.

no its not that too much to ask but is that what you think we like? oh hell that was just a paint the most important thing here is the performance and reliability as an extreme and a muscle car eater.

it’s pretty clear that Godzilla doesn’t need a bold color to stand out. However, certain owners feel the need to dress their cars in something special.

well it looks good with purple... it looks more aggressive and sporty with that color. but Racing stripe will also add some sting to the GT-R.

agree, but it looks unique, if you’re having a car like this you should paired it with a lovely set of wheels.

Never seen such color on a car. This is what I’m talking about people!

If there is so much freedom in picking colors, then we should have less silver, black, white, red cars, and have tons of nuances! smiley

This is a good proof that the GTR will look good in any color!

I think it would look more serious if it was a little darker. Nice plate at the front. I really value the GTR because its great how fast and quick it is and it can take 3 friends for a ride with fair comfort. Its top gear lap time is Ridiculously fast!!

The real achievement of this new GT-R is not that it has been made faster but that it is now both easier to drive and more entertaining. Also the paint can add some more entertainment too.

I think it looks alright, but i think a slightly darker shade of purple would of been a little bit more suiting to the high power sports car
