A while ago Top Speed reported that Nissan had deep sixed plans to bring a new rear wheel drive sports car to market, something smaller and more affordable than the new 370Z. Under the hood there was supposed to be a 1.6 Liter gas burning engine that would deliver 200 HP. This compact sports coupe would be able to sprint from 0 to 60 MPH in just 6.5 seconds, hit a top speed of 140 MPH and return 35 MPG. Excellent!

Auto Express is reporting that this open air Miata competitor will see the light of day. But with the introduction of another sports car to their line-up, Nissan could face the problem they had in the 1990’s when they were selling the Silvia, 300ZX TT and a Skyline GT-R. Although all three are attractive at different price points are there enough sports car shoppers around to make it profitable?
