The mysterious Lamborghini teaser that talked about a "super sports car" headed to Frankfurt has now been addressed, and just as Lamborghini anticipated, the car isn't what we thought it would be.

Okay, we got the part about the Gallardo->ke375 right, but it's not the eventual successor to the popular V10 as we initially thought. Instead, it's going to be the final version of the Gallardo that Lamborghini is going to release. It's a street-version of the Gallardo Super Trofeo.

As the days of the Gallardo draw to a close, Lamborghini wants it to go out on a high note so the company is preparing a 30-piece limited edition model that will take all of the Super Trofeo's characteristics and turn them into a road-ready supercar. You can definitely expect this model to carry the same 5.3-liter V10 engine of the race version, good enough to produce an output of 570 horsepower while also carrying a six-speed e-gear transmission, an all-wheel drive configuration, a huge rear wing, and sturdy as heck racing suspension, all while shedding over 220 lbs from the standard version's weight.

The reduced weight of the Gallardo ST comes courtesy of a reworked chassis with added carbon fiber bodywork, a lighter racing seat, a special racing brake system, and a racing steering wheel and instrument panel.

Just in case you're still not geeked up for the Frankfurt Motor Show, this new development just made the show all that more interesting.
