Nissan gave us a proper, enthusiast’s sports car for the first time in 13 years. There are very few cars that are as anticipated as the Nissan Z, in 2022, and from August you’ll be able to order one. With this in mind, the retro-styled coupe made another appearance, at the 2022 Houston Auto Show, where GT: Garage Talk talked with a Nissan product specialist, revealing new details about the pricing.

With the Nissan Z now being a reality, Z enthusiasts finally have a proper, two-seat sports car to look forward to. That said, Nisan’s product specialist mentioned a starting price of $30,000, for the Nissan Z. Don’t be so quick to rejoice, however, as an update from GT: Garage Talk updated us through a YouTube comment that the product specialist “misspoke the numbers when stating prices”.

With this in mind, we go back to the original price figures of $35,000 to $40,000, which will be confirmed spring. At the very least, it is confirmed that the Nissan Z will only have one engine option, which means that even the base Nissan Z will have the more powerful version of the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 that makes 400 horsepower and 350 pound-feet (475 Nm). The big thing, of course, is the six-speed manual, which comes from the Nissan 370Z.

On the upside, the Nissan Z is still shaping up to be a bargain enthusiast’s sports car, especially given that most of its competitors don’t offer a manual gearbox. It remains to be seen, whether or not, dealerships would put obscene mark-ups, given the interest towards the new Z.
