The Drag Racing and Car stuff YouTube channel put out a video of an old 99 Honda Civic take on an Audi SQ5 and a Tesla Model X.

From the face of it, the green Civic seen here looks like a stock late 90s beater. A proper sleeper. However, you have to take a listen to this Civic and you can almost immediately tell that this car is anything but stock. The specs on the car are unknown, but my guess is that this one has been heavily modified under the skin.

The Audi meanwhile is a far recent car. This latest generation of the Q5 was launched in the U.S. back in 2018. The high-performance SQ5 has a 3.0-liter V-6 engine that produces 349 horsepower and 369-pound feet of torque in stock form, again, these engines can be remapped for even more performance.

Race 1

The showdown took place at the Speed World Dragway in Orlando Florida. Both cars lined up at the lights. The hammer drops and Civic got a slight head start but the Audi despite a slower start is mighty off the line and with its four-wheel-drive traction launch pretty well.

It quickly gets ahead of the Civic and begins to pull away. Overall this SQ5 dominates the quarter-mile, clocking in a time of 12.2 seconds at 110.74 mph while the Civic managed 14.84 seconds at 97.69 mph. Although the Civic lost, I’ll have to admit that the noise that it makes is rather epic.

Race 2

Okay the Civic vs SQ5 wasn't a fair battle. Here's an apples-to-apples one then. The Audi SQ5 now takes on the mighty Tesla Model X. It appears to be the performance variant of the Model X, which produces 778 horsepower and 841 pound-feet of torque from its dual motor set up.

Both cars lined up at the lights. They turn green and the SQ5 gets off the line better, however, despite its heavier weight, the Model X makes silent but swift progress and by the time the SUV’s hit the quarter-mile, the Model X is ahead. It clocks in a time of 11.8 seconds at 115.74 mph while the SQ5 managed an identical 12.24 seconds at 110.64 mph, as it did on its previous pass with the Civic. So a definitive win then for the Tesla Model X. I can’t wait to see what the new Model X Plaid can do on the track.
