On paper, it seems fair to say that a Lamborghini Huracan->ke4345 has no chance against a Porsche 918 Spyder->ke3629 in a quarter mile race. The latter, after all, is far more powerful than its Italian counterpart. But, perception isn’t always reality, and as this video will show us, sometimes the underdog has a few surprises up its sleeve.

First, let’s check out the tale of the tape. On one side of the strip is the Lamborghini Huracan. This supercar->ke177 is powered by a 5.2-liter V-10 engine that spits out 602 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque. All that power is sent to the all four wheels, allowing the Italian bull to sprint from 0 to 62 mph in just three seconds and hit a top sped of 202 mph.

On the opposite site of the drag strip is the Porsche 918 Spyder. It also has all-wheel drive, but instead of having a traditional engine, it’s powered by a hybrid powertrain->ke147 made up of a 4.6-liter V-8 engine and a pair of electric motors. Together, the two systems work in concert to provide the 918 Spyder with 887 horsepower and 940 pound-feet of torque. That helps the German hypercar shoot from 0 to 62 mph in just 2.5 seconds to go with a top speed of 217 mph.

Line these two up side-by-side and just about everybody will pick the 918 Spyder in a full-on drag race against the Huracan. You might even say that the Lamborghini->ke44 is a decided underdog with odds somewhere in the 4/1 range. It just so happens that if you did bet on the Huracan in this particular race, you’d be walking away with a thick pockets and a huge smile on your face.

Yes, the Lamborghini won and it really wasn’t even close. This begs the question whether this particular Huracan had some work done on its V-8 mill. After all, the numbers don’t lie. The 918 Spyder should’ve won this race without even breaking a sweat. But, none of that matters really since this is just a good ol’ fashion drag race with nothing but bragging rights on the line.
