For the Porsche enthusiast who has everything – possibly including a 918 Spyder parked in his driveway – Porsche has created the ultimate expression of passion for the brand, which, surprisingly, is not a limited-edition 911. It’s called the P’3135 Solid Gold Limited Edition, and it is a fountain pen created from a single piece of solid 14-carat gold with an 18-carat gold nib.

Only 11 of these pens will ever be produced, with sales available at select Porsche Design stores starting next month, but here’s the kicker: bring your wallet. Priced at around $27,000 (or €25,000), this pen will cost almost as much as a used 2007 Boxster, and it isn’t nearly as fun on track days. Fortunately, if you don’t have that much money to spend on a writing utensil, Porsche Design will gladly sell you its standard Solid Fountain Pen constructed of titanium with the same 18-carat gold tip, and it will only set you back $1,090.

Press Release

The luxury brand Porsche Design launches one of the most exclusive writing tools for pen aficionados: the fountain pen P’3135 Solid Gold Limited Edition. This distinctive writing gem is strictly limited to eleven pieces worldwide and will only be available from selected Porsche Design stores from mid-April 2015.

The limited P´3135 Solid Gold is milled out of a single piece of solid pure 14-/585 carat gold. The progressive pure silhouette underlines the fountain pen’s unique shape. It is rounded off by the integral 18-/750 carat gold nib which has been especially designed for the Solid fountain pen and highlights its aesthetic and elegance. The icon of the Porsche Design brand is discretely engraved on the surface of the nib and a limited edition number is lasered on the barrel.

The characteristic feature of the P’3135 fountain pen is the mechanism innovatively concealed in the shaft that is exclusively finished with 14-/585 carat gold coating. When gentle pressure is applied to the end of the Solid Gold and the end piece is unscrewed the mechanism can be removed and the converter can be filled with ink. Inside the box a small and gold-plated limitation tag shows again the limitation number of each fountain pen.

The Porsche Design P‘3135 Solid Gold Limited Edition is available from mid-April with nib sizes M in selected Porsche Design Stores and retails for 25.000 euros.
