Porsche has just released a glorious video showing off its GTS lineup of performance vehicles that currently includes the Boxster, Cayman, 911, Panamera and Cayenne. While we love seeing these souped-up GTS Porsches in action, the real reason for this 78-second GTS cheerleading footage is most likely a primer for the arrival of the Macan GTS. Porsche did not say when the Macan GTS will debut, but it will probably arrive later this year for the 2016 model year.

The Macan GTS was confirmed back in March as part of an annual report on expected developments that listed the trim level as a new arrival in 2015, along with many other upcoming models from Volkswagen Group brands. This was the same announcement where Porsche confirmed the 2016 Boxster Spyder, Cayman GT4, 911 GT3 RS and 911 Targa 4 GTS.

As far as what changes should be expected to a GTS version of the Macan, Porsche is remaining mum on the details. On other models, GTS trim levels generally receive improved handling, styling and engine output, but this latter aspect will probably be the biggest news for the new model. The current Macan lineup consists of the 340-horsepower Macan S and the 400-horsepower Macan Turbo, and no other Porsche GTS stands as the top trim level. On the Boxster and Cayman, the GTS slots below the Spyder and GT4, respectively, while the 911, Panamera and Cayenne position the GTS just below the Turbo model.

Check out the Porsche GTS video above, and stay tuned later this year (possibly L.A. Auto Show) for the 2016 Porsche Macan GTS.
