The all-new Porsche Macan T comes with the same four-pot mill as the base trim, but with a lot more standard equipment
by Sidd Dhimaan, onPorsche has been stressing on its Macan lineup quite a bit lately. The Turbo model was replaced by an upgraded GTS trim not too long ago, and now, there’s a new trim in the portfolio. The German automaker has decided to add the ‘T’ trim to the Macan, thus making it the third Porsche to bear the badge apart from the 718 and the 911 models.
To put it simply, the T (or Touring) trim is an upgraded version of the base trim that’s aimed at providing a better driving experience. It generally slots between the base and the mid trims, and it’s no different here either. The Macan T comes with the same four-cylinder engine as the base trim, but with more standard equipment.
What’s Powers The Porsche Macan T?
The Macan T will be powered by the 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-pot engine that’s present in the base trim as well. It puts out 261 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.
The engine is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox (PDK) and an all-wheel-drive system.
What’s Special About The Porsche Macan T?
While these specs match the ones on the base trim, the Macan Touring features some more equipment to make the ride much sweeter than the entry-level trim. It comes with a steel suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management as standard. Coupled with the slightly lowered ride height – lowered it by 0.6 inches (15 mm) – the Macan T will be an agile handler and have a very responsive steering behavior, Porsche claims.
Opt for the Adaptive Air Suspension and you’ll be able to lower the ride height by 0.4 inches (10 mm) more. The sway bars are stiffer here. You can also choose to get the Torque Vectoring system, which is retuned for the T model, for extra moolah for even sharper dynamics. The Sport Chrono Package comes as standard here, and it includes Launch Control, a driving mode switch on the steering wheel, and a stopwatch.
Courtesy of all this, the Macan T will take 5.8 seconds to sprint to 60 mph and will have a top speed of 144 mph. This means the top speed is the same as the base Macan, but it is 0.2 seconds quicker to 60 mph.
