Mercedes-AMG has announced pricing for its much anticipated new G63, and we better warn you that it is a wee bit expensive. The famed boxy performance SUV will come with a six-digit price tag of $147,500. Did your eyes just pop? Yeah, ours too.

2019 Mercedes-AMG G63

The new, boxy G-Wagen is performance-oriented and comes packed with a handbuilt, 4.0-liter, biturbo V-8 engine that produces 577 ponies and 627 pound-feet of torque. It is mated to a nine-speed AMG Speedshift automatic transmission. It can go from a standstill to 62 miles per hour in 4.5 seconds, which is mighty impressive considering it is unaware of the concept of aerodynamics. There is a side-exit performance exhaust and a double-wishbone independent suspension system up front with adaptive adjustable dampers.

Boxy, But Can Be Stretched To Fit In Anywhere

What’s fascinating is that even after four decades of producing the first generation G-Class, we were still looking forward to the same boxy design. It’s a good thing that Mercedes retained the iconic, boxy design and sculpted it into something that looks modern. The G63 is mighty versatile as well. You can take it to office every day, explore the roads untravelled, make it your urban commuter, take it on a tiring road trip comprising of thousands of miles at a stretch, cross continents, or just about anything else. And now, the new G63 can even zoom fast to satisfy your adrenaline rush.

Conclusion

As mentioned, it will retail at $147,500. If you’re looking for a substitute from the same stable, but lighter on the pocket, you can go for the G550. It is priced $124,500 and comes with the same engine tuned to deliver 416 horses and 450 pound-feet of torque. What are your thoughts on this new Mercedes-AMG G63?
