This review of the Taycan Turbo S has all the relevant info about the EV

We’re going to see a lot of EV wars happening in the years to come, but for the moment, the Porsche Taycan takes the all-electric sports car cake.

In all honesty, we weren’t expecting any less from Porsche, a brand whose name and history are strongly tied to the world of motorsports. So, what happens when a professional race driver reviews the Taycan? The answer is a 15-minute video that will show you just how good the German super-sedan really is.

The ability to impress pro drivers says a lot about a car’s character

Taycan reviews have been popping up online in large numbers over the past year. All the heavyweights in car journalism had a stab at Porsche’s all-electric sports car, but in case you were wondering what a pro driver has to say about the Taycan, then you’ve come to the right place.

Andy Pilgrim is a five-time championship winning race driver. He was also a factory driver for the likes of Chevrolet, Cadillac, Pontiac, BMW, and Porsche. So his experience and background pretty much guarantee that his take on the Taycan will be of a different perspective than all we’ve seen before.

In a recent stint with Automobile Magazine, Andy took the wheel of a 2020 Taycan Turbo S and put it through its paces in a series of tests, including a track run on the NCM Motorsports Park.

That’s where the Taycan’s acceleration was described by Andy as “brutal” and that’s where the Taycan reached a straight-line top speed of 159 mph, just two mph shy of the top speed limit stated by Porsche.

On top of that, the Taycan Turbo S was also drag raced and it managed to go from 0 to 60 mph in 2.45 seconds. Oh, and it ran the quarter-mile in 10.40 seconds @ 133 mph.

As usual, we won’t spoil the fun of actually watching the video, not since there’s a lot of nicely laid out information to take in from it.

Tudor’s first encounter with cars took place when he was only a child. Back then, his father brought home a Trabant 601 Kombi and a few years later, a Wartburg 353. At that time, he was too young to know how they worked and way too young to drive them, but he could see one thing – each of them had a different ethos and their own unique personality. As time went on, he started seeing that in other cars as well, and his love for the automobile was born.  Read full bio
