Production Dodge Challenger spotted
The upcoming Challenger won’t be revealed until next year at the Chicago Auto Show, but the first images of the production version have been spotted in Vegas this past week. Sales will begin in march 2008.
Even if the car remains true to the concept, there are a few minor changes that makes the car look even better: notice the wheels, the B-pillar and the lack of a cross hair truck grille.
The 2008 Dodge Challenger will use the updated version of the LX platform (called the LY platform) already under the Dodge Charger, Chrysler 300, and the Magnum.
The concept vehicle shown at NAIAS had a 6.1-liter V8 Hemi V8 under the hood but hat engine is expected to be used on the SRT version of the production car. Instead of that, the standard 5.7-liter Hemi V8 is more likely to be used. According to Dodge, the power-train in the concept could deliver 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds, a quarter-mile run in 13 seconds flat, and a top speed of 174 mph.
