We knew already that BMW Is not going to offer an M version for the X7 luxury SUV. Instead it will build a more luxurious version called X8. In fact BMW already previewed the X8 SUV with the XM - a hybrid concept car that delivers an impressive 750 horsepower.

Now, our spy photographers caught the production version XM out for a testing session on the streets of Munich, Germany.

As you can see, most of the heavy camouflage is gone, and we can now clearly see the lines of the future X8. It looks like the production version will follow the lines of the concept car, but toned down a little for street use. On the other hand, it will get a simple and straight line for the rear lights.

Also, the spy shots reveal that the X8 will still have "real" door handles and not the new integrated type of door handles.

As for under the hood, rumors suggest the X8 will be powered by a twin-turbo V8 combined with plug-in hybrid technology. The same rumors suggest there will be three different power stages to choose from, with the most powerful version being the X8 M of course.

Expect more details on the future BMW X8 to arrive later in 2022, with an official debut to happen in early 2023.
