It took a little more than 13 years to reach this point, but Radical Sportscars is nonetheless throwing quite a celebration after the company hit production number 1,000 of their line of race cars. As you may know by now, Radical Motorsports has a made a name for themselves by competing in a number of racing series all over the world, not the least of which includes four appearances with the LMP2-class SR9 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans->ke1591.

It's a pretty impressive achievement for a race car manufacturer to build 1,000 cars - the Radical SR2 accounted for about half of the 1,000 - and even more so for a company with the stature of Radical Motorsports.

In addition to celebrating the company's 1,000th unit, Radical is also giving a glimpse of their latest baby: the battery-powered Radical SRZero. Built in partnership with Energy Future Labat Imperial College London, the new Radical sports car is said to be capable of sending energy from its 550-volt battery through a pair of electric motors, which when combined, can produce an output of around 400 horsepower and about 479 lb/ft of torque.

That being said, we'd like to congratulate Radical Sportscars for this momentous occasion in their company's history. It's not often that a true racing company gets to produce 1,000 cars, but these guys - after 13 years - managed to so. For that, we salute you!
