By now, there isn’t a single car enthusiast that hasn’t, at least, heard of the Fast and Furious franchise. While the series has transitioned from street racing to a super-spy gig, it all started in 2001. The original Fast & Furious movie features, arguably, the most accurate tuner cars of all the series, and few are as iconic as the orange Toyota Supra, driven by Paul Walker, at the end of the movie. The people at Just Driven have decided to recreate the iconic ride and they have F&F advisor, Craig Lieberman on-site, to give input.

If you follow what goes behind the scenes of Fast & Furious, Craig Lieberman should be a familiar name. The man was an advisor for the earlier F&F movies and was responsible for making sure the right cars are chosen for the movies, as well as to source them. A few of his personal cars, actually, made it onto the movies, including a Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R and the Toyota Supra (the orange hero car), which also made it into the second movie as Slap Jack’s car.

Lieberman’s Toyota Supra was a 1994 model, equipped with a twin-turbo 2JZ, six-speed manual, and a Targa top. The team at Just Driven decided to make a car that properly resembled the orange hero car, but with the actual “big power” it was depicted as having. Lieberman’s car was heavily modified for the time, packing much of the HKS, Turbonetics, and Greddy catalog parts. It was good for 544 to 569 horsepower, depending on the dyno - detailed specs, here.

The homage car, built by Just Driven features the accurate shade of orange (reportedly, a $25,000 paint job) as well as the full Bomex body kit that was on the movie car. That said, even Lieberman admits that the car was rushed for the movie while discussing the correct offset of the wheels of the replica.

In the shop where the Supra is taking shape, we can see other iconic vehicles, among which a clean BMW E30, yellow Nissan Skyline 2000 GT-R “Hakosuka”, and what looks like a Porsche 959 rolling chassis, to name a few. We don’t know how much power the 2JZ GTE engine will make when it is nested in the Supra’s engine bay, but Lieberman said to Daryl "you are building a better than my car was. It's going to come ut better, it's going to have more horsepower...". The team is focused on making the car perfect so we are excited for the final version of it.
