Design-wise, cars have come a long way. So much so that, for as long as we can remember, cars have been drawing inspiration from various places, such as animals, shapes, other cars, and even having the equivalent of human eyelids – case in point being the Lamborghini Miura. However, today we are talking about a much more unremarkable vehicle.

Hagerty is one of the more reputable automotive platforms when it comes to car content. For a while now, their YouTube channel has been featuring the legendary Chip Foose, in their “Chip Foose draws a car” series. The man is one of the most well-known American automotive designers and is responsible for some epic custom builds. In the series, he is asked to sketch his own version of a car, in this case, a Volvo Amazon.

As a man of talent, Chip Foose quickly redesigns the streamlined Swedish coupe, into a lowered topless, speedster type of car. The designer himself makes a remark how the Amazon’s beauty is in its simplicity. He treats the car as a blank canvas and is very interested in the opportunities it presents. He also goes on to explain how he sees a lot of inspiration from the big American cars of old, like the Chrysler 300. As you would expect, the end result is stunning and if you are like me, it might even inspire you to open your web browser and start searching for a decent affordable example of the Volvo Amazon.
