Renault announced that the company will launch the first t of several sports cars inspired by the iconic Alpines in 2010.

The Alpine was produced between 1960 and 1995, and rumors about bringing the Alpine brand back have circulated for a long time now.

In an interview with Automobilwoche, sales and marketing chief Patrick Blain sayd: "We are planning sports cars again for the future. They are expected to demonstrate Renault’s capacity for engineering performance."

Renault hasn’t decide about the name of its future car, but it’s very probably they will go "Alpine" to brand it.

Blain also said that the new model will be a "radical sports car" and not just a sports version of a regular model.

Renault plans to launch 26 new models by the end of 2009.
