In all the years of the LeMans 24-hours race, there has never been a hybrid race car that has participated in one of the most gruelling races in the world. But that doesn’t mean that we’ll never get to see one.

If the Geneva Motor Show has taught us anything, it’s that even the high-powered exotic brands are slowly focusing more of their attention on developing hybrid cars. Porsche->ke1, Lamborghini, and Ferrari->ke252 were among those that even unveiled hybrid sports cars during the auto show, showing that maybe the dawn of the hybrid race car is now upon us.

Continued after the jump.

Then we got these renderings of the Porsche 918 Spyder that was created by a member of Teamspeed, showing the car in a race livery that can only be attributed to the LeMans 24-hours. Needless to say, the Porsche 918 Spyder was already a big hit in Geneva, but now that we have renderings of what the car could look in LeMans, you can’t blame us for being a little intrigued at the possibility of Porsche’s hybrid concept – as with all the hybrid sports cars that have popped out recently - to compete in the race.

Take that in as food for thought; in the meantime, tell us what you think of these renderings, which, in our opinion, are sick as sick can be.
