We’ve all been dreaming of finding a car that’s been sitting for a while and giving it a second chance, by restoring it. This, of course, is much easier said than done. If anyone thinks the opposite, this video where Tony Angelo from the YouTube channel Stay Tuned, will prove you dead wrong. The channel is actually quite new and so far has only a few videos uploaded, but it already gathered close to 46,000 subscribers. The channel is all about fun, as you can see from the uploaded videos. The story of how this 1999 Porsche 996 came back to life, however, is both fun and frustrating.

According to Tony’s information, the Porsche 911 was sitting in a Brooklyn parking garage for two years. Tony goes on, explaining all the tribulations, involving getting the 911 in proper condition. One of them involves changing the gearbox, which is cheaper than you may think, for a Porsche. This, of course, doesn’t have to be caused by the fact it’s been sitting for a while. It could simply mean, the previous owner wasn’t taking care of the car properly.

The car itself cost Tony $5,000 and after the gearbox intervention, he was now $1,500 deeper. Tony also wanted to upgrade some aspects of the 996, such as the shifter assembly, which came from a 997 and is much tighter and more precise than the original 996 shifter. A car that’s been sitting for a while is bound to have electrical issues. Let’s just say getting to the alternator on a 996 isn’t the easiest task in the world.

Although the Porsche drove great after the aforementioned interventions, Tony wanted to get it back to its former glory, or at least as close as it can be. He has obviously achieved it, since the car drives perfectly and is being used daily. This video takes a deep look at a man’s passion to give a second chance to a previously unloved sports car and all the work done to it, in detail. If you are thinking of tackling a similar project, this might give you good insight and know-how.
