Rolls-Royce Cullinan needs no introduction. It is the automaker’s first SUV ever and is also the most expensive production SUV in the world, proudly wearing a price tag north of $300,000. When you plonk in so much money on an SUV, taking it for dune bashing is something that wouldn’t even cross your mind. But, that doesn’t mean the Cullinan is not capable of going off the beaten paths, and its latest video seems to send the same message. But, will the owners risk taking it to the desert?

The Cullinan In The Desert Is The Best Thing You’ll See On The Internet Today

Rolls-Royce has done a fantastic job of trying to convince people to unlock the complete potential of this luxurious beast. Although the video might give some people a heart attack, especially the way this 6,000-pound beast swivels on the sand, it shows how capable the SUV is. What came as a surprise, however, is that this car is not from the automaker’s media fleet; it belongs to a private owner who decided to have some fun in Dubai’s desert.

Rolls-Royce currently sells the Cullinan in two versions – the standard model and the Black Badge Edition. Both the iterations are powered by the same 6.75-liter, V-12 engine, but there is a difference in the power outputs.

The luxurious SUV in the standard form is capable of doing a 0-60 mph sprint in 4.9 seconds before the speed governor kicks in and prohibits the vehicle from going beyond 155 mph. The Black Badge takes 4.5 seconds to hit 60 mph whereas the top speed remains the same. As for the pricing, the standard Cullinan starts at about $330,000, and the Black Badge Edition comes with a base price of $382,000.

Final Thoughts

This is in stark contrast to the time when the folks at Autocar tried to drift the Cullinan and it displayed an error message instead. Nevertheless, this is an absolutely fun video to watch and lets people know that the Cullinan is not all show and no substance when it comes to pushing it outside its comfort zone.

Slightly off-topic, but did you notice the stunning illuminated Spirit of Ecstasy at the beginning of the video? Well, the automaker will not be selling it further and will be removing it from the existing cars. As it turns out, it doesn’t comply with the European Union’s light pollution regulations. Rolls-Royce will replace it with a silver-plated ornament instead and refund the money to the owners. Weird.
