McLaren CEO Ron Dennis is not the type to mix up words and when talking about the rival Bugatti Veyron, he didn’t waste any time letting the whole world know exactly what he thinks of the supercar.

"It’s just pig ugly, the Veyron doesn’t do anything for me," he said in an absolute straight face. "I’ve been looking at it for years, and I don’t see one single thing that makes me feel good."

That’s some very strong words indeed, even for whatever standards Dennis sets himself in. It’s one thing to call a rival supercar ugly, which won’t surprise us the least bit considering he’s got to promote his own newly-released McLaren MP4-12C. But to call the Veyron pig ugly?

That’s some serious harsh words right there. Then again, everybody’s entitled to their own opinion so we won’t completely take it out on Ron Dennis alone. We’re just thinking that he should probably have exercised a little more caution - or at least used a better choice of words - to describe the Bugatti supercar.

But hey, in the world of supercars, harsh criticisms like this one aren’t exactly breaking news material.

David Hasselhoff didn’t leave much of an impression on him (that happened later on in Baywatch), but KITT certainly did. To this day, Kirby remains convinced that he will one day own a car with the same ‘spirit’ as the original KITT (not the 2008 monstrosity). He doesn't know when that will be, but until then, he’s committed to expressing his love for KITT, and all cars for that matter, here at TopSpeed.  Read More

I truthfully think that the veyron is ugly... I never liked that car. It’s fast and we all know it, but is ugly. Second of all... it’s extremely overpriced. A CCX is a little over half of the veyron’s price tag, and it’s only like 10 miles slower than this french piece of crap. Phenomenal engine (german), but it crossed the line. I totally agree to Mr. Dennis on his opinion.

I don’t hate the Veyron because of its price; I hate it because it is a piece of crap that’s slower than a G37 in a slalom, laps the Nurburgring slower than a turbo supra with 1/3 the Bugatti’s horsepower, and the reliability/maintenance is pathetic. Who cares how much power it’s got if you can’t use it? And don’t give me any of that "it’s a luxury car also" crap; I’d much rather be in a One-77 or LFA’s cabin than this Bugatti, both of which will obliterate the Veyron on any racetrack.

Poor Dennis,
McLaren F1 has been outdone by Bugatti Veyron, it has done its time. Gordon Murray understood the latter is a complete different supercar. Veyron is more than a performance because it also provide comfort and luxury at high speed. Clearly, Dennis wants to promote its MC4 which is nowhere near Bugatti class and considered as one of blandest car made compared to Ferrari F458. It looks like he has seniority moment.

For those who complain about price, Bugatti is historically expensive and follow its founder tradition: "nothing is beautiful, nothing is expensive". Watch National Geographic Man Made Bugatti Veyron understood the cost, the car is very much like a ground airplane.

hmm agree... why does mouse looking car costs that much.. though their competitors are much better with a lower price.

The Veyron will be remembered for being a huge technological achievement, and the first road car to come with 1000bhp. many like it, many hate it. But IMO i hate it because of it’s price.

Can you imagine the most expensive car is the most easiest to drive. Very well balance and

Oh that was rude! I guess this guy is just mad about the pricing of the Veyron.

Totally agree....its just a waste of money.. to me a Zonda is far more sexier and cheaper(relatively speaking) hehehe

He’s right; the Veyron is a pathetic vehicle. Who cars how much power it’s got if it can’t be made use of out on the track? It is big and cumbersome, and the MKIV Toyota Supra turbo with 1/3 of the horsepower can lap the Nurburgring faster. Not to mention what it takes to own a Veyron... your specialized tires last only 6,000 miles under normal conditions, your $75,000 wheels themselves (don’t ask me why) only last 35,000 miles, and every 60,000 miles you have to fly your car to France for a multiple-week service in which they even have to take the car in half, because the cheap bolts they used to save weight (it weighs 4400 lbs anyway though) have to all be replaced. It may well be the most ridiculous car ever built.

I gotta say that McLaren is a beatiful and a powerful car, but compared to the Veyron is like comparing a casette to a cd-player, totally irrelevant.
