According to Inside Line the rumors about Lamborghini’s future, especially any rumor that a new Espada or Miura is coming are flase. The only things that are 100% sure is that Lamborghini is working on successors to the Gallardo and the Murcielago.

Stephan Winkelmann says: "Any future Lamborghini sports car needs to be both mid-engined and four-wheel drive." There were rumors that Lamboghini is working on a rival for Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, but the design sketches "are not intended to provide ideas for any new model that might be in the pipeline."

Winkelmann also confirmed that Miura won’t go into production. And with no Espada or Miura, the next all-new Lamborghini model could be an SUV based on Audi’s upcoming Q5 — a compact four-wheel-drive vehicle in the mold of the recently introduced Q7. Winkelmann says a performance-based SUV could fit well with the Lamborghini brand, but he doesn’t hint when it is likely to arrive.

Before the debut of the Lambo SUV, will arrive a roadster version of the Murciélago LP640, due out later this year. Next year a lightweight version of the Gallardo with rear-wheel drive it is also expected. Also, in the next two years a dramatically styled successor to the Murciélago it is set to debut. It will be powered by an all-new V12 engine based around the V10 used in the Gallardo.
