According to Automotive News, Saab looks to expand line-up by the end of 2010: a redesigned 9-3 and a new mid-sized crossover will be launched by the end of the decade.

The first attempts on having mid-sized crossover were the 9-7X and the 9-2X, but both of them failed. The next attempt will be a new crossover designed from the start as a Saab will help make the brand profitable. The vehicle is likely to join the lineup in 2009 or 2010.

Saab is developing a small crossover, called 9-4X, using a mix of the re-engineered Theta and Epsilon 2 architectures. The vehicle will debut in 2009.

The 9-7X will be dropped next year.
