According to Ford’s PR team, sales of the new 2011 Mustang GT->ke428 are pretty good. Yet, it’s the optional Brembo package that has Ford jumping for joy. Ford says that the car is “exceeding our expectations”.

The Mustang GT comes with an all-new 5.0-liter V8 engine with 412 horsepower. That being said, the competition, including the Chevrolet Camaro SS->ke248 and the Dodge Challenger SRT8->ke249 come with Brembo brakes as standard.

Buyers in this segment are looking for quick and precise handling and epic power. The Challenger provides the latter of those two, but it’s the Mustang that gives buyers the best of both worlds. In 2014, the Camaro will be getting a slight refresh, but until then, the pony car is still the front runner.

Before we see a revamped Camaro, will be getting the Z28. The car will be on the Zeta platform and will do battle with the Ford Shelby GT500. It’s expected to have a 6.2-liter supercharged LSA V8.

Yet, it’s not just domestic companies that are making rear-wheel drive sports cars. Nissan has the 370Z->ke3043 and Hyundai has the Genesis Coupe->ke2924. Both of these cars provide everything that a buyer could ask for at a decent price.
