Talks about the C8 Corvette Z06 started literally days after the C8 Corvette hit the scene. A lot of test mules have been spotted in the past and we’ve also heard what it sounds like. In fact, we have even seen in testing its launch control system at the Chevy’s proving grounds in Milford, Michigan.

Addressing all this once and for all and initiating a countdown, Chevrolet has announced the C8 Corvette Z06’s reveal date, and it’s just a little over two months at the time of penning this. 26 October 2021. Save the date, enthusiasts!

What Do We Know About The C8 Z06?

The company gave us the first official photo and a video teaser announcing the date. The image shows two cars, one being the camouflaged Z06 and the other being the C8.R race car. The video shows the Z06 being tested at various racetracks, including the Nurburgring.

From what we know so far, the C8 Corvette will most likely feature the 5.5-liter, flat-plane crank V-8 engine that is present in the race version of the C8. It will be a free-flowing naturally aspirated mill that will redline at around 8,500 rpm. Expect at least 600 ponies to power the car that will be mated to a dual-clutch automatic gearbox. To put things into perspective, the standard C8 Corvette comes with a 6.2-liter, cross-plane crank V-8 that makes 490 horses and takes 2.8 seconds to 60 mph from rest.

Chevrolet had released another small video clip back in July that gave us a glimpse of what the car would sound like. It sounds a lot like a Ferrari, which shouldn’t come as a surprise given that the Z06 was spotted alongside the Ferrari 458 Italia sometime back. The 458 Italia is also powered by a flat-plane V-8 and Chevy was using it as a benchmark. That’s definitely good news.

Two months to go for the C8 Corvette Z06 to be revealed and we might hear about all its specs also at that time. How excited are you about this? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
