Add another item to the growing list of things that won’t return for the second season of The Grand Tour. We already know that the globe-trotting tent segment has been grounded in favor of a more permanent setup in the UK. We also know that The American, last season’s “tame” race driver, won’t be back when the new season drops on Amazon Prime Video on December 8. Now it looks like the Celebrity Brain Crash segment has also been axed.

For its part, Amazon has yet to give specific details on what the show’s new celebrity segment is going to be. Instead, it released a new teaser video of the show’s three hosts — Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May — brainstorming on a suitable replacement for the ill-fated segment. Clarkson predictably led the way in the tomfoolery, cutting what looks to be an Alfa Romeo Brera and calling it the “Half-a-Romeo.” Clever puns aside, his intent was to have celebrity guests set lap times with the Half-a-Romeo, that is if they can even manage to complete a lap in the thing. That proved to be a challenge in it of itself as May, and a handful of crew members failed miserably in their attempts to even get a few hundred meters out of the Half-a-Romeo. I highly doubt that the Half-a-Romeo will play an integral role in the second season of The Grand Tour, and that’s not a bad thing at all. Laughs and giggles aside, it really is nothing more than an 11th-hour gag ahead of the season premiere next month.
