Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus, the low-volume manufacturer that is the brainchild of James Glickenhaus, is preparing a new model to join its recent creations, the SCG 003, SCG 004S, and the Boot. The new model is going to be called the SCG 006, and according to Road and Track, it’s pegged as a two-seater, retro-styled throwback sports car that will be offered in either coupe or convertible body types.

Details are still scarce regarding the SCG 006, but a report from Road and Track indicates that there’s more to this rumor than meets the eye. According to the report, the SCG 006 will be a two-door, two-seater sports car that will be designed with a retro-styled manner. That means that the 006 will look less like today’s modern supercars and more like a 1960s-inspired road car. Initial sketches show as much, and it’s hard not to look at the design drawings and be reminded of a certain 1960’s icon that has become arguably the most sought-after car in the world today: the Ferrari 250 GTO.

On the performance side, SCG hasn’t announced the size of the engine it’s going to carry under that sweeping front hood, but the company did say that the 006 will have around 650 horsepower on tap. It will also be made available with either a paddle-shift automatic transmission or a six-speed manual transmission, either of which will be placed in the rear section of the sports car to help establish a more balanced weight for the model.

A GT4-spec race version is also going to come out of this development, something that shouldn’t come as a surprise considering the people behind it. SCG, after all, made its bones developing a number of randy racers, not the least of which linseeds the aforementioned 003 and the formidable one-off, the Ferrari P4/5 Competition.

There’s no specific timetable for the production of the 006, but the company did tell Road and Track that production will start sometime in 2020. Likewise, pre-orders are now being accepted with a 10-percent deposit needed to secure a first-year build slot. Given how quick first build slots of the 004S sold out, don’t be surprised if the 006 slots sell out quickly, as well. If anything, SCG has proven to be an automaker that has lived up its boasts. It may still be classified as a niche brand, but with models like the 003, 004S, Boot, and now, 006 in the mix, it’s showing that it has a larger than life reputation in the industry.
