Porsche Carrera GT on an unrestricted stretch of the Autobahn? Yes, pleaseby Dim Angelov, on LISTEN 02:51
Very few cars have the enigmatic presence of a Porsche Carrera GT. The mid-engine supercar debuted in 2003 and in its four-year production cycle only 1,270 were made. Despite the car appreciating in value, there are still people out there, who have the b”lls to use the car like it was meant to. With that said, the YouTube channel AutoTopNL is giving us a short, but epic video of the Porsche Carrera GT hitting over 186 mph (300 km/h).
The Porsche Carrera GT
The Porsche Carrera GT certainly requires a lot of focus, to be driven at the limit. Its 5.7-liter, normally-aspirated V-10 is motorsport-derived and revs up to over 8,000 RPM. It also develops 612 horsepower at 8,000 RPM and 435 pound-feet (590 Nm) at 5,750 RPM. All that goes to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual. This epic combo allows for a 0-62 mph (100 km/h) of 3.5 seconds (with modern tires) and a top speed of 208 mph (334 km/h). Oh, and you have no driver aids.
|Engine||5.7-liter, normally-aspirated V-10|
|Power||612 HP @ 8,000 RPM|
|Torque||435 LB-FT @ 5,750 RPM|
|0 to 60 mph||3.5 seconds|
|Top Speed||208 mph|
The Autobahn Run
The Porsche Carrera GT looks and sounds amazing while blasting down the autobahn. The 3,042-pound (1,380 kg) mid-engine Porsche manages impressive acceleration figures, such as 100 to 200 km/h (62-124 mph) in 7.09 seconds, 200 to 250 km/h (124-155 mph) in 6.74 seconds, and 200 to 300 km/h (124-186 mph) in 20.81 seconds.
While the driver did not hit the top speed of the Porsche Carrera GT, you still see the number 313 km/h (194 mph) on the instrument cluster, while the GPS indicated 309 km/h (192 mph).
Despite being made in the early 2000s, the Porsche Carrera GT shows it can still run with today’s supercars and even surpass them in certain departments, engine sound being one of them. This really is a testimony of Porsche’s engineering and motorsport prowess. Watch the video below for some epic eye-watering and eargasmic footage.
