The latest addition to Shmee’s garage!

The 2020 Toyota Supra has arrived, and with it, all manner of hype and controversy. One car lover who’s smitten by the new RWD sports machine is YouTuber Shmee150, who recently posted a walkaround on his new 2020 GR model.

Getting Under The Skin Of Toyota’s Performance Coupe

Despite the hate and vitriol you see aimed at the Supra across the Internets at the moment, Shmee isn’t taking part. Rather, he seems pretty pleased with it, and even decided to plunk down some of his own money to grab one for himself.

The video starts with an explanation of the GR name, which, if you were unaware, stands for Gazoo Racing. Gazoo Racing is Toyota’s performance division, and takes responsibility for a number of victories across multiple motorsports programs, including Le Mans, rally racing, and NASCAR.

From there, Shmee gives us a walkaround of the 2020 Supra’s exterior styling, identifying a number of elements in the aesthetic. The car featured here is the limited A90 edition, which comes with a matte grey exterior finish. Shmee gets up close and personal with stuff like the aero bits, including the blades in the front end, rear duckbill spoiler, and the side fins, plus styling stuff like the double bubble roof and the satin black mirror caps. Up front, we also get a look at the six individual lamps inside the headlight housings, and the long daytime running lights leading from the nose to the fenders. Shmee also turns the headlights on towards the end of the video.

Personally, my first impressions of the new 2020 Supra were a bit lukewarm, but seeing it in this walkaround makes me like the design a little bit more.

Moving on, Shmee gives us a look at the cabin space, including the digital gauges, as well as the red and black upholstery with this limited Launch Edition. We get to check out the digital touchscreen on the dash, and the various buttons plus their function. The digital rev counter looks pretty cool as well, as does the cabin’s horizontal layout. It also looks like there isn’t much visibility with the low seating position and narrow windows. There’s carbon trim on the center tunnel, plus we get to check out the key fob design and the rear hatch space.

Up next is a look under the hood, where we find the Supra’s turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder developed with BMW. Output is rated at 335 horsepower, which is sent to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic. This model also comes with a pair of red stripes across the plastic engine cover.

What’s more, Shmee hits the engine starter and we get to hear the 2020 Supra burst to life and idle for a second.
