Just because we have the propensity to show an gnawingly weird short film trailer about an evil tire that boasts of uncanny superpowers, it doesn’t mean that we’ve gone off the deep end, too. We wanted to preface this piece with that only because that’s exactly what we’re going to show you. This is the teaser video of a short film directed by indie filmmaker Quentin Dupieux.

The short film is exactly what we said it’s about and with absolutely no traces of exaggeration. The star of the film is really a tire. It really does have superpowers. It really blows off people’s heads with it. ’Nuff said.

In case you’re wondering, the movie is called ’Rubber’ and it’s actually been cited as one of the short films that has been given a screening during the 2010 Critics’ Week at the Cannes Film Festival later this month. So just because the plot - and the lead star - of the short film is about as weird as you can get, it doesn’t mean the film doesn’t have some semblance of substance in it.

Check out the trailer and see how Mr. Evil Tire handles an unassuming crow.

Kirby’s first exposure into the world of automobiles happened when he caught Knight Rider on television as a five-year old boy. David Hasselhoff didn’t leave much of an impression on him (that happened later on in Baywatch), but KITT certainly did. To this day, Kirby remains convinced that he will one day own a car with the same ‘spirit’ as the original KITT (not the 2008 monstrosity). He doesn't know when that will be, but until then, he’s committed to expressing his love for KITT, and all cars for that matter, here at TopSpeed.  Read More
